We need your help!
WordCamp Switzerland relies on volunteers. They help to organise an unforgettable event for every single attendee.
During a WordCamp there are tasks within different areas. Due to the fact that the organisers cannot take care of everything ourselves, we depend on the support from volunteers to help ensure that the event runs smoothly.
We are looking forward to seeing some experienced volunteers as well as some first-timers – both is perfectly fine! From past experience, volunteering for such an international event is a great opportunity to meet new people and to interact with the WordPress community. You will not be on the sidelines: you will be right in the middle, where the magic happens.
What is expected from a volunteer?
Volunteers should be friendly, helpful, reliable people who are eager to sort things out.
What kind of tasks are completed by volunteers?
A WordCamp needs helping hands in the following areas:
- Registration: check the attendees in when they arrive;
- Swag station: hand out swag to the attendees;
- Photography: take photographs of the event;
- Time-keeping: inform the speakers about their time remaining during their talk;
- Welcome attendees to the venue, answer their questions, and guide them in the venue;
- Mic runner: give the microphone to the audience during the Q&A sessions;
- Room monitor: ensure the room isn’t overcrowded, and prevent unnecessary noise when attendees enter and leave the room mid-talk.
What is in for me if I volunteer?
A lot of gratitude, that’s for sure. Although there will be situations in which your efforts are not directly “honoured”, you’ll gain a great experience at the event by helping to run it flawlessly. If you have a wordpress.org profile, you also get a badge there, and you’ll probably make many new contacts and new friends.
Please take a moment to read the agreement among WordCamp organisers, speakers, sponsors and volunteers.
